It’s getting closer to departure time. I’m really quite impressed by the design of the airport. This is my first time at the international portion of it, and I think it looks wonderful. There are these flourescent lights hanging at different heights and angles. I’m not sure if it is intentional or if they have just naturally started shift/sag, but I it makes the lighting much more interesting than having them all at the same height and angle. I really love the hanging metalwork piece that I’m looking at right now. It depicts a school small fish spiraling upwards… reminds me of underwater footage that you’d typically see on a nature show.
I’m getting sleepy. I spent the whole day making final preparations. I went and got my shots, bought gifts for family members and even took a shower, but I still managed to forget to buy a memory card reader and my favourite batteries: Maha Powerex 2700mah AA’s.
Well I have to go pee… I’ll write again when I get a chance. Peace.

I’m just sitting standing here at the food court waiting to board. The flight is at 12:55AM! This is so boring, but I’m glad we came early to check in because after about twenty minutes of waiting in line, a large hoard of 50-60 people showed up. I was slightly disappointed that the weight limit for a carry-on is 7kg. My camera bag is about 11-12kg!
Here’s some PhotoBooth fun.

CAMBODIA!!!?
I am going to Cambodia for the first time since immigrating to Canada all those years ago. It’s going to be quite interesting for me since I’ve never really gone anywhere. Being an introvert by nature, I prefer familiar sights/smells/sounds, travelling the usual routes, and doing the usual things. All the new stuff I’m going to experience on this trip is going to make my head explode! If it doesn’t, I’m sure the heat will get me. It looks like I’ll be coming home much browner than I am now. In all seriousness though, there will many opportunities for me to learn about my own culture and where I come from–something that even a dumb-ass like myself can appreciate. If I don’t learn anything, at least I’ll get to tingle my tastebuds with a veritable cornucopia of gastronomic delights! Ah yes, the ’sweet’ smell of Cambodian Cheese…
Something that makes this journey extra special is the fact that I will be joined by my best friend Carlos (don’t be jealous Fronda) and my coolest friend Fancy (don’t be jealous Fronda) in mid-June. We’ve had occasional impromptu Khmer training sessions over the past few weeks and I think that they have been picking up the language quite well. Although, I’m not too certain how far Carlos is going to get with “Hello. My name is Mr. Cat!”
At least we will make cool pictures!
PEACE.
