If you are looking for a pair of high-quality headphones that are versatile and sound great… get  a set of these cans sucka! Seriously though, you should get these if you care about your music. Whether you are making beats in your bedroom or DJ’ing a party in a basement, riding mixer faders or riding public transit on your way to work/school, you owe it to your ears to get these ‘phones.

Let’s start with the basics.

  • closed-back/sealed design = they keep your music in and the rest of the world out (to a degree)
  • circum-aural = they go around your ears, which I prefer over supra-aural (sitting on top of your ears)
  • 45mm driver = bigger speaker, bigger sound… duh!
  • 15-28000 hz = Barry White lows all the way up to Mariah Carey highs
  • 1/8″ connector with 1/4″ screw-on adaptor = you can hook up to most players/systems

SONICSTATE.COM

December 22nd, 2008

I just wanna plug a website that I like to visit.

SONICSTATE.COM

The website is all about music production, synths and other music technology. They have, news, reviews, videos and podcast called Sonic Talk which is . The podcast is recorded LIVE Wednesdays at 4pm GMT (8am PST) and can be downloaded on Thursdays from the site or you can subscribe to it in iTunes.

I really enjoy the Sonic Talk podcast even though I’m not hugely into music stuff at the moment. I just find it to be informative and entertaining. The show has great regular guests who have good knowledge and experience in the industry, as well as good sense of humor. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who has even a passing interest in recording/music production/synths and related topics.

Oh yeah, the host of the podcast is Nick Batt of the music group DNA who remixed the song “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega. I could never remember the name of this song, it came out in 1990 ( I was 9), but that little vocal loop in the intro has somehow been ingrained into my musical consciousness.

CHECK IT OUT!
